15 Mar GenQ – Drop in Group

We are three queer folks from Barrie who are passionate about making safe spaces for queer youth and adults. We are holding a 20+ adult group that will be a safe and calm space for lesbian, gay, trans, bisexual, two spirit, asexual, queer and questioning adults to come and socialize.

We want to make our safe spaces accessible for youth and adults and help them reach the resources that they need. We have had our own “Meet n Greet” where we could get to know folks and socialize with them in a safe space. We have also had a clothing swap with TransQ to help support LGBTQ+ folks who need help accessing gender validating clothing as well as makeup and gender affirming hair cuts. Some of our members have held LGBTQ+ events even before starting GenQ! On top of running our adult group, we will still be making events for all ages, so if you can’t make it to our 20+ group we will see you at future events!

This is a community group hosted at the Gilbert Centre and run by dedicated peers who are not staff or volunteers of the Centre.
